Well worth a look. It also draws upon the British fantasy games and game-books of that period to bring a distinctly dark and dangerous feel to the game. My first game, and introduction to Newt, was at a Continuum con and Newt was well largered up and had eaten two curries. Needless to say, great fun was had as he got more and more plastered. That game is etched in my mind forever. I have the first book and will be getting the second.
The design ethics are the same as for Open Quest; keep it simple and essential. Good value for money. I checked out the 1st ed but did not buy it.
This looks worthy of a purchase! Jump in. The remastered version should be most excellent. I'm IN on this one. The Old School Renaissance has arrived! Its definitely worth a look if anyones interested in the game. I can't wait for the final copy to come out. I have read the beta a few times now.
Way less fiddly, more seamless, and highly compatible either way. The stretch goals for Disciple, Elementalist, Lizard Person, and Beast Hybrid have all been met, meaning they will be available as playable classes in the final game.
If I hadn't written my own game, I would probably chose this one in its revised edition for my game of choice. I missed this, just like I missed the original! Well, I'll pick it up when it's available in PDF. Definitely will be cherry picked by me. So, any news about it? If the first edition had still been available as a PDF, I absolutely would have purchased it with the intent of grabbing both physical and electronic copies of the Remastered Edition upon release.
First, I know it uses at least something similar to Akrasia's health and damage system, wherein hit points represent a character's exhaustion, and once those HP are depleted, characters fall unconscious and begin to take lethal damage that whittles away their actual CON score. Second, I know it also has a simple sort of skill system, but is it similar to Akrasia's saving-throw-as-skill-check mechanic?
Third, when taking these things into account, do any people feel that the game begins to stop being an OSR game? I realize that "OSR" means many different things to different people, but the understanding I've had is that they tend to favor a higher level of lethality and eschew skill checks in favor of narrative role-playing.
Am I way off base in this regard? I'm still pretty new to OSR games and have had very few chances to play them. Playing with a douchebag can be an emotionally traumatic experience. Lots of horror stories exist about douchebags. And self-serving to the industry that publishes rulebooks. I hope the game will be available as POD. This is the only OSR ruleset other than mine, that I am interested in buying. But I am not in a hurry. I can wait. I just want to have a POD option with hardcover
Be a wild Barbarian, a deadly Fighter, a soul-torn Sorcerer or a sword sharp canny Thief, fighting evil tyrants and foul demons in a world rapidly dying and heading towards its final nemesis. It also draws upon the British fantasy games and game-books of that period to bring a distinctly dark and dangerous feel to the game. It was originally released back in early and after a highly successful Kickstarter in it returns in a Remastered edition, with revised and expanded content and entirely new art by David M. The Player's section of the game, which explains how to create and play the character who will be the player's alter ego in the game. People really need to work out some better pricing mechanisms for those products. This is just not how that thing works. Now, what online retailer Amazon? You do realize that WotC has economy of scale in its favor, as they print thousands of copies at a time and OBS is a Print on Demand retailer. You are literally comparing apples to oranges.

No free version. Some of the art is Arnold-great, while some is about what you see in most OSR type books. Overall, this book has a lot of that 70s metal vibe going on. There might be other fan-made supplements out there, but none that I am aware of.
Crypts & Things Remastered is a sword & sorcery role-playing game built I find the price of the PDF a little steep if you only mine the book for.
Thanks for the review, it gave me a very good feel for what's in the book. Thanks for the kind review : Its been mentioned time and again about the sheer brutality of the Continent of Terror. I originally wrote it when I wasn't in a very nice headspace while reading a lot Clark Ashton Smith who really really doesn't like people. That's very interesting
